About the Choir

Musica Viva Singers of Ottawa is a 45 voice (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) community choir now in its 20ieth performance season.

Founded in 1997 by a group of choral enthusiasts under the direction of Brian Cameron, the choir performs a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary music at concerts in December and May. As part of our active outreach program, we entertain at facilities around Ottawa and the occasional public location.

We are also always open to opportunities to perform our concert programs in other venues for other audiences. If you have ideas about other venues, please let us know. Current contact information is provided on this website.

Musica Viva Singers is a registered charitable organization with a committed membership, a loyal audience averaging close to 300 per concert and a reputation for appealing concerts. Over the years the choir has held its own financially but is sometimes precarious! In addition to membership fees and ticket sales, we seek donations from audience members and other friends in this music-loving community of ours. Donating is a simple process using the link to our Canada Helps page. As a registered charity, Canada Helps is a secure, easy way to make an on-line contribution. Your contribution will help us purchase music and partner with other musicians to enrich our concert programs.

We are grateful to many in our audience who have been with us along the way over the years and are always excited when new concert-goers are with us. We hope you all enjoy our next concert.

Mark your calendar! It will be on Monday, 9 May 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Centretown United Church in Ottawa. The music will all have been composed by young composers beginning with Mozart and Schubert right up to the present with music by young Canadians including Matthew Emery and Kathleen Allan. Check the internet for a taste of their works and then join us in May.
