Find the Cost of Freedom
Through the ages, people around the world have raised their voices in protest against oppression. Musica Viva Singers, under the direction of Scott Richardson, celebrate the power of freedom songs to help change the course of history. The wide-ranging program includes choral music from the American Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement and South Africa’s liberation struggle. Spirituals and folksongs to opera, arranged by well-loved composers from Oscar Peterson and Harry Belafonte to Steven Stills and Guiseppe Verdi.
MVS is pleased to be joined by Stephen Richer of Carleton University who will lead the audience in singing a selection of well-loved spirituals.
